A “Pops and Bangs” map (also known as a crackle map, burble tune, or overrun map) is a specialist addition to a performance remap. We modify your ECU’s software to make precise adjustments to fuel and ignition timing only when you decelerate (on overrun).

This allows a small, controlled amount of unburnt fuel to ignite in the hot exhaust system, creating the signature “pop” and “crackle” sound that signifies high performance.

 CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS: Read Before Booking

This is an aggressive tune for petrol vehicles and it requires your car to be in perfect health and have the right supporting hardware. We will not perform this service on an unsuitable vehicle.

Your vehicle MUST have an aftermarket de-cat downpipe or a high-flow sports catalyst.

Do NOT request this service on a standard, factory catalytic converter. The unburnt fuel will superheat and destroy a standard cat, leading to a blockage, loss of power, and a £1,000+ repair bill.

Requirements Checklist:

  1. Petrol Engine: This service is for petrol engines (especially turbocharged models).
  2. De-cat or Sports Cat: As mentioned above, this is non-negotiable.
  3. High-Quality Exhaust: A free-flowing cat-back exhaust system is highly recommended to get the best sound and prevent damage to standard, chambered silencers.
  4. Excellent Vehicle Health: Your engine, turbo, and ignition system (spark plugs, coil packs) must be in 100% healthy condition.

Important Legal & MOT Disclaimer

Pops and Bangs remaps, and the required hardware (de-cats), are for off-road use only.

  • MOT Failure: A vehicle with a de-cat pipe will fail an MOT test on emissions and on a visual check. A sports cat may also fail emissions.
  • Noise Regulations: An excessively loud exhaust can attract unwanted attention from law enforcement and may be deemed illegal for public road use.
  • Increased Wear: This is an aggressive tune. It puts additional thermal stress on your exhaust components, exhaust valves, and turbocharger.
