Airbag Module Reset
Airbag Module Crash Data Reset
Is your airbag light on after a minor bump or accident? Has a dealer told you that your Airbag ECU is “locked” and needs replacing? Don’t spend hundreds on a new module—we can reset yours.
At Miles Back, we specialise in advanced automotive electronics. One of our most popular money-saving services is the Airbag Module Crash Data Reset. We can restore your original unit to its factory state, clearing the “hard codes” that standard diagnostic tools cannot touch.
What is “Crash Data”?
When a vehicle is involved in a collision—even a minor one where airbags don’t deploy—the Airbag Control Module (also known as the SRS Module, RCM, or SDM) records the event. It stores speed, impact force, and sensor data in a “locked” memory area.
Once this data is written, the module triggers the airbag warning light and often disables the safety system to prevent malfunction.
The Problem:
Most main dealers and standard garages cannot clear this specific data. Their diagnostic tools will simply read an internal error or “Crash Data Stored” fault. Their only solution is to sell you a brand-new module, which can cost £300–£800+ and requires expensive coding to work with your car.
The Solution:
We connect directly to the memory chip on the circuit board. We surgically remove the crash data while leaving the module’s operating software and coding intact.
Why Reset Instead of Replace?
- Massive Cost Savings: A reset is a fraction of the price of a new main dealer unit.
- Plug & Play: Because we are using your original module, it retains all its original coding and VIN data. In 99% of cases, you can simply plug it back in, and the light goes out—no further programming required.
- Save the Environment: repairing electronics reduces e-waste.
- Fast Turnaround: We offer a same-day service for locals and a quick turnaround for postal customers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe?
Yes. We are not “tricking” the system. We are simply clearing the event log from the memory, returning the module to the state it was in before the accident. If the hardware is physically damaged (burnt or water damaged), we will advise you that it cannot be reset.
Will the light go off immediately?
Provided you have replaced any deployed airbags or seatbelt tensioners, the light should go out immediately or after a simple code clear. If the light stays on, it usually indicates a fault elsewhere in the car (e.g., a loose plug or a blown fuse), which we can help diagnose.
Do you repair seat belts?
This service is for the Electronic Control Module only. If your seat belts are locked/jammed, they are mechanically deployed and will need replacing or refurbishing separately.
